Information
Jamie Isaia evokes mood and atmosphere in a color-saturated, expressive photographic style that suggests dream-like, otherworldly scenarios.
Though her images are thoughtfully scripted, they also contain unexpected and spontaneous elements, resulting in a rich blend of performance and a painterly photographic style. Her still photography is conceived in motion, naturally, with the evolution of the fashion film as a medium, Jamie has turned to moving pictures as a means of this expression in her creative and commercial work.
Isaia has shot editorials for W, Italian Vogue, Japanese Vogue, Tokion, Tank, Whitewall, Exit and The Last Magazine. Her advertising clients include Zac Posen, Wolford, Swarovski Crystal, Journelle, and Loeffler Randall. Jamie Isaia’s films have been featured in the ICA’s Birds Eye View Festival, A Shades View on Fashion Film Festival in Paris and at the MOMA in New York, as well as on The New York Times T Magazine, FLY 16×9, aWantedmag, Nomenus Quarterly, and Tank websites.
In 2008 Isaia was nominated for the Discovery Award at the Recontres d’Arles with guest curator Christian Lacroix. She traveled to Spain to teach at Madrid’s international photography festival, PHotoEspaña. She is currently teaching at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
