Information

Diana Markosian is at the forefront of a new generation of photographers, pushing the boundaries of documentary art. By encapsulating different styles and storytelling techniques, Markosian has created a unique approach to image making. Her first monograph, Santa Barbara was published by Aperture and selected by Time Magazine and MoMa as the top photo book of the year. The accompanying exhibition has been exhibited around the world, including MoMa in San Francisco, the International Center for Photography in New York, FoMU in Belgium, Vevey in Switzerland and will be opening at Fotografiska in 2023. The centerpiece of the project, a short film, premiered at the TriBeca Film Festival and won the Audience Choice Award at Sheffield Docfest in England. Having started her career at 20, after graduating Columbia University with a Master of Science, her projects have taken her to some of the remotest corners of the world, where she has produced projects for clients like National Geographic Magazine, Time Magazine, Vanity Fair and GQ. Her work has been recognized by the Sony Alpha Female Foundation, World Press Photo, the Elliott Erwitt Foundation, Forbes 30 under 30, and most recently she was awarded the first Hendrik teNeues New Generation Award in Germany.
